heavenly father loves us

(there was something on my lens, but i just love this face!)

Sunday was almost a tragic day. I am so glad it turned out the way it did! We were all getting ready for church when Genesis asked me why Simeon and Glory were in the neighbors yard. I said, "What!!?" and ran outside to see. There he was happily tromping through the neighbor's unfenced yard toward the busy street. I ran through the gate that Glory had open and chased him, yelling for him to stop. He of course thought, "yes!! a chasing game!" and booked it toward 200th street. For those of you that do not know that busy street, the speed limit is 40 but nobody, I repeat nobody, goes that slow. So my heart is pounding and I am yelling at him to stop, but he is getting closer and closer to the street. (my heart is pounding as I am typing) All of a sudden I get this burst of speed and finally catch him about 3-5 feet from the street. Genesis got there shortly after I did. She had gone the other way to try to get to him before he got to the street. I start yelling at him and telling him how dangerous the street is and he, in his snotty 2 year old voice, replies with "OOkaaay mom!" and "Sooorrreeee!" As if there were no need to be so upset and I was overeacting as hysterical paranoid mothers are apt to do!! Anyway, come to find out, the last person to use the back gate did not secure it properly and he was able to push it open. Glory saw him go out and she followed to try to get him back in the gate. Simeon of course refused. Glory was just coming to tell me (thus the open gate I ran through) when I came outside. I had sprained my ankle the day before and had been limping around, but felt no pain when I was running for Simeon's life. I collapsed in the house when all was done with the adrenaline shakes, and Simeon happily went about his business obliviously playing with his toys. I had a meeting shortly after everything and sobbed all the way to church. On the upside, my foot has not hurt since the escapade in the neighbors yard. I think I will be a hysterical paranoid mother for a little while whenever Sim is outside. I may have taken for granted our fully fenced yard. (Okay, so I am starting to see the differences between boys and girls. You must really be full of energy with little boys around.) So it was just another testament to me that Heavenly Father loves us and protects us. Boys are so much work!!
