boys are just different

It is amazing to me how even as babies boys and girls are different. When the girls were little, and even now any toy is part of a family and it talks. We had toy cars and they would ask daddy to play cars with them, but their idea of "playing cars" was making them talk. Simeon on the other hand has already gotten down the sounds of cars and motorcycles. Yesterday, Matt was in the bedroom and he thought he heard a motorcycle going down the road. It had all the right engine tones and shifting patterns, but it turned out to be Simeon at the foot of the bed hidden by the footboard, playing with his car. Matt was amazed (and very proud). But it is so true. There is no question in my mind about whether it is the way they are raised or just gender. They are totally different. Simeon is totally into balls and trucks and motorcycles. He points out every truck or motorcycle he hears going down the road. It doesn't really register with me until he points it out. That boy is so adorable!! I know I am totally biased.

On Saturday, the school had this free Family Fun Night at the YMCA. The kids got to go play in the gymnastics room. There were rope swings, bars, balance beams, trampoline, and a big pit with foam blocks in it. All the kids were playing and jumping into it. They had so much fun!! And of course I forgot the camera. UGH!! The whole time we were there I kept thinking, "Ooh that would be a cute picture". So frustrating. At the end of the night, Genesis says, "I love the partnership school". Me too, me too.

We LOVE the YMCA gymnastics room! Steve wants to have his next birthday party there. He doesn't think it's fair that only kids can have parties there. The big foam pit is his favorite.
